Les Monts inhabits a space just across the road from Vietnam’s most iconic skyscraper. A small, self-effacing coffee house, minimal in furniture and calm in palette. Often sat at the coffee bar, Les Monts’ manager, Nyong, is easy to talk to, with a gentle demeanour. If around during your visit, we suggest saying hello; Nyong has worked in the coffee industry for 28 years and always happy to share pearls of wisdom.

Les Monts acts as a kind of showroom for Nyong’s much larger business, Comco Trading Co. Ltd.. Comco imports and exports green coffee beans on a global scale. Visit any specialty coffee shop in Vietnam and the chances are their non-Vietnamese coffee will have been supplied by Comco.  

Coffee at Les Monts is outstanding. Interestingly, Les Monts is the first coffee house in Saigon we have reviewed which does not offer Vietnamese coffee on the menu. Nyong tells me that “Vietnamese coffee isn’t there yet… until the consistency of good coffee improves, we will only stock coffee we know is of the highest quality”. By no means is that an understatement. Try the V60 or Les Mont’s adaptation of a cà phê đá (traditional ice coffee) and like us, you may find yourself back here three times over the course of the week!
