Welcome to Hackney Wick’s 'cultural quarter'. Counter Cafe completes the Stour Space’s art gallery and studio spaces. There’s even a little shop selling a random mix of art supplies and local arts and crafts. The cafe is spacious and sprawling, with a deck overlooking the Lee canal. Or 'tropical pontoon' as the locals like to think of it. Coffee geeks will be in seventh heaven thanks to Counter Cafe’s onsite roastery and very own San Franciscan roaster. The decor is as makeshift as the houseboats moored off the deck, with its rickety tables and art classroom seats. Counter Cafe prides itself as a neighborhood cafe, with a focus on local produce and even 'locally sourced' staff. This creates a community feel with creative types tapping at their laptops at communal tables.
